Parent Association

Parent Association & School Support

Parent Association

The Parent Association (PA) is an integral part of the life of Creative Learning Academy whose purpose is to create and support a strong sense of community, offer volunteer support, and to promote relationships among our parents, faculty, staff, and students. As the primary resource for parent involvement at CLA, the PA coordinates volunteer activities, organizes and supports fundraising initiatives and events, and actively promotes the mission of the school.

All CLA parents belong to the Parent Association and are encouraged attend PA meetings and to become an active participant in the life of the school. Parents not only provide invaluable support for school programs, they also model our values of life-long learning and community service. Whether it is a one-time activity or serving on a standing committee, there are plenty of opportunities throughout the year to volunteer time, energy, and talent to our CLA community. There truly is something for everyone!

If you have any questions, please contact the PA to learn more about how you can get involved.

Volunteering is a fun and rewarding way for Dragon parents to be more involved in the life of the school and work together with other parents. There are opportunities for all levels of commitment – many opportunities only require 1-2 hours of work, while other positions involve more planning and/or year-round support. We would love to have you join us!

Room Parents

Each grade level is represented by a Room Parent who also serves as the Parent Association Representative and Chairperson for that grade level initiatives and events. Room Parents should make every effort to attend monthly Parent Association Meetings and disseminate pertinent information to other parents. The role of Room Parent may vary with the specific needs of the homeroom teacher and vary by teacher, grade level, and division. Generally, a room parent might also:

  • Coordinating class parties in partnership with the teacher
  • Communicating PA information to the classroom teacher
  • Promoting 100% classroom participation in the annual Dragon Fund
  • Coordinating and promoting class participation in school events like the Fall Festival, Bayou Hills Run, and Dragon Jubilee
